Summary
King Charles III will read the 2024 King’s Speech at the State Opening of Parliament on 17 July 2024. The speech will set out the UK government’s policy and legislative agenda for the new parliamentary session.
The Lords’ debates on the King’s Speech will take place over six days between 18 and 25 July:
- Thursday 18 July (day 1): Energy, the environment and housing
- Friday 19 July (day 2): Creating opportunities: education, early years and health care
- Monday 22 July (day 3): Economic growth, infrastructure and employment
- Tuesday 23 July (day 4): Constitution and devolution
- Wednesday 24 July (day 5): Justice and home affairs
- Thursday 25 July (day 6): Foreign affairs and defence
